My Little Big Dream.
Some people dream big. They have visions bigger than themselves; have unrealistic ambitions, and often bite off more than they can chew. Others dream small, they have no visions of grandeur or dreams of self-importance. They are happy living lives that fade with each passing generation. They eat, sleep, work, play, and live.
Some people over emphasize either of these extremes. Youll have the Hobbits, who want to live quiet lives where nothing happens, and youll have the treasure seeker and dragon fighters that want adventure and glory.
I’ve often said to my friends. My heart longs for the shire, but I know I’ve been called to fight the dragons.
I see the deep beauty of the hidden simplicity of friends and family gathered around a table, sharing good food, stories, and affection for one another. I love the way the sun shines on a patch of tomatoes growing. I love finding earth worms for my son to play with when I’m planting trees. I love to watch my children grow. Laughter, playing, tantrums, and tears, all of it. The simple small moments of life are the treasures I hold dear. I want my table full, I want my friends close, I want laughter and dirty dishes to fill my kitchen. Many would call this a little dream.
But I have a big dream too.
Around the world children and adults are being sold as sex slaves, harvested for their organs, and held captive for their labor. I want to fight to see 10,000 freed, embraced, and restored. I’m just one guy, but it is the dream that I believe God has given me. It feels big, it feels unrealistic and ambitious, it feels like biting off more than I can chew.
But here’s the thing.
The little Dream is the BIG DREAM.
I just want the little dream for these kids, and these people who have been forced into a life that's full of suffering, death and pain.
I want them to sit around their tables, watching their kids grow up. I want them to have kitchens full of dirty dishes and good company. I want them to have sleepless nights with fussy babies. I want them to have a fighting chance at the little dream. And I want them ALL to have it!
So that's it.
My big little dream.
Dare to dream little, embrace the life that God has for you in the quiet beauty of the day to day with friends and family. But don’t stop there. Dreams are meant to be shared. You could be the missing piece to bring someone else's little dream into a BIG reality. Dare to live Little Big Dreams.
Be Blessed,
Phil Morris
